awakening pale sky
When I decided to create this work, I was in a very dark place mentally.
It was mid-pandemic, I was living in the middle of a colossal renovation of my own home for almost a year, and my dog, Brad, had recently passed away and I was definitely not over it.
I hadn't painted for almost 2 years, so I saw this project as a big panel of liberation and affection. It's my room after all.
I wanted to print the colors and textures of the sky on it. At the very moment when the colors are pale, just after dawn.
I did it with the intention of being reminded of good things every day when I wake up. Being reminded that even above the clouds, the sun shines. That everything passes. And that I'm capable of a lot of things, especially seeing the bright side of life.
